What are you?
We really love anything that has to do with mobile technology. Every mobile phone is much more than a dull communication tool and every gadget deserves a spot in our heart. That’s our driving force for many years now and the reason why we are doing our best to share our passion with everyone out there. We dedicated our site - and, honestly, most of the years of our lives - to the mobile industry. From the early 2000s till now, we talk each and every day about mobile phones, we explore their amazing functions and last, but not least, we put them on the test. Believe it or not, they are not just heartless products. They are created to serve a very important task of our lives, which is communication and thus we believe that they deserve a shrine. This shrine is myphone.gr.
Really, what are you?
We founded myphone.gr back in the early 2000s, initially to become a hub for like-minded people. Just a few months later, thousands of people wanted to participate and therefore one the biggest online communities in Greece was born. In the beginning it was a tough, yet pretty much enjoyable ride. But eventually it became something bigger. An online meeting place not just for passionate fans of technology, but also for everyone that uses a mobile phone in Greece and even for people that are actively working in the mobile industry. So, in other words, we consider ourselves a hub. And a shrine...
What do you have to offer?
Passion isn’t the only thing we have to offer. As a visitor to our web site you should feel free to participate in the community and ask questions, provide your insights, post helpful information or even share your experiences while using any mobile service or product. But make no mistake, myphone.gr is much more than a community, as we do have our proud editorial team posting news about the industry and it’s products each and every day for more than 10 years now, reviewing mobile phones, gadgets, apps, games and much, much more. And that’s not all. We are actively developing new areas for you to explore, new services and, maybe, even apps. So, in brief, here is what we offer:
- News reporting: Our editorial team doesn’t sleep at all on weekdays, just to post the mobile industry’s latest news in our front page. We believe that every single mobile phone user should have easy access to the new stories for so many reasons: Knowing what to expect in the future from service providers and manufacturers, making the best decisions for buying products and gadgets etc. We are proud of our news coverage. In other words, just explore our news articles in 3 major categories: Greece, World, Devices.
- Event reporting: We have been to Cannes, Hannover, Barcelona, and we even travelled to Hong Kong, just to give you the best possible reports for many of the biggest mobile industry’s events. We have been to CeBIT from the early 1990s. We are regular visitors to Mobile World Congress (in Cannes and in Barcelona). We have even been to New York, just to have some apples... Here is an example of the coverage of Mobile World Congress 2011 in Barcelona. And here is an example of the same event, a year ago: Mobile World Congress 2010.
- Reviews: We love our reviews. We treat every single mobile phone with respect, but we also like to push them to their limits. We are trying really hard to not break them apart, but it’s hard to resist when most of them are miniscule wonders! In all seriousness though, we are also proud of our gigantic reviews. Our editorial team tries to find the latest mobile phones and put them on the test. Do they deliver their promises? Are they really as wonderful as their manufacturer claims they are? Do we like them at all? Should you buy them or not? Many examples of our work is published under the My Devices segment. Go there, now!
Who are you?
We consider ourselves, just like most of our visitors, a member of our vibrant community. Unfortunately, we also have to do some work in order to coordinate things and make your experience as smooth as possible.
(aka MsK) is the founder of myphone.gr. In other words, he had the idea of creating this web site back in the early 2000s. He was and still is a tech-journalist, contributing his share of articles in regular basis both on myphone.gr and in other various printed publications. He is the one who does most of the reporting from various events around the world, as for example Mobile World Congress 2010
. He also likes tweeting
, live, about them. But, he is much more than a founder, reporter and editor. He is also developing this web-site from scratch. All the underlying PHP scripts that run on this server and even the design of myphone.gr, have his signature. On weekends he also do alot of server maintenance.
Nikos Papanikolopoulos (aka Mythozz) is the community manager of myphone.gr. He is also the Editor in Chief. In other words, he is coordinating successfully the editorial team and he does an excellent job in maintaining order in a vast community. He is the one who will probably review every single mobile phone, not because he has to, but because he loves it.
Iraklis Vlachakis (aka vlachaquito) is a relatively new member of our team. He is a journalist who loves to talk about the ups and (mainly) the downs of modern technology. He loves to hate every single mobile phone out there (and we hate him for that) and he is well known for his uniquely, entertaining, views of modern fanboy-ism.
All of our services are provided free of charge and we do hope that you enjoy your stay here.
